Oswestry Food Festival 2007
Oswestry hosted its first ever food and drink festival in 2007. It consisted of market stalls selling local produce, art exhibitions, debates, and live entertainment over a two day period.
The Jools Payne Partnership was appointed to launch the first ever Oswestry Food and Drink Festival; a two day event to celebrate the area’s wealth of good quality produce and fine dining experiences. The key messages for the Festival were: support local producers, reduce the carbon footprint of shoppers, spotlight the town market, and to think about where our food comes from. The Jools Payne Partnership was briefed to raise awareness of the event, gain sponsorship and media partnership deals, and also to brainstorm and execute a broad range of events for the Festival.
An exclusive media partnership was set up with the Festival and Country and Border Life (the number 1 glossy country magazine). Within this arrangement, the Festival benefited from special print rates and branding. Sponsorship deals were struck to fund many of the Festival’s events, including The Great Food Debate, Dragons’ Den and The Firkin’ Good Pie Eating Competition.
Editorial coverage was achieved across all the region’s press and broadcast media titles.
Thanks to the strong media relations, overwhelming crowds were present on both days.
